A Legacy of Faith. A Vision for Sustainable Change.

A Legacy of Faith. A Vision for Sustainable Change.

For nearly seventy years, our mission has been rooted in one simple belief—that lasting transformation happens when faith is combined with education, compassion, and practical opportunity.

Founded on a Christian mission established in Liberia in 1955, Abacus Crown Enterprises continues to serve communities by investing in education, sustainable agriculture, and initiatives that help individuals and families build brighter futures.

Today, we remain committed to honoring that legacy while creating lasting impact for generations to come.

Meet Walter Flemister

Executive Director

Walter Flemister was born and raised on the mission field in Liberia, where he witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact of Christian ministry, education, and compassionate service. As the eldest son of missionaries Robert and Sarah Flemister, he grew up surrounded by a mission dedicated to sharing the Gospel while serving local communities.

After retiring from public service in New York City, Walter committed himself to continuing the work his parents began decades ago. Today, he leads Abacus Crown Enterprises with a vision of preserving that legacy while expanding its impact through Christian education, sustainable agriculture, and community development.

Guided by faith, responsible stewardship, and a long-term vision, Walter is leading the organization toward greater self-reliance, creating opportunities that will strengthen families and communities across Liberia for generations to come.

A Mission That Began in 1955

The story of Abacus Crown Enterprises began long before the organization itself was established.

In 1955, missionaries Robert and Sarah Flemister answered God’s call to serve in Liberia. After receiving a land grant from the Liberian government, they established a Christian mission dedicated to sharing the Gospel through education, discipleship, and community service.

Starting with undeveloped land, they built a school, a church, and a ministry that would serve generations of Liberian families. Their work provided children with access to education, strengthened local churches, and became a source of hope for countless individuals seeking both spiritual and practical support.

For decades, the mission stood as a testimony to faithful service, leaving a lasting impact that continues to inspire our work today.

Continuing the Mission for a New Generation

When Walter Flemister returned to Liberia in 2024, he saw more than memories of his childhood. He saw an opportunity to continue a mission that had shaped countless lives while adapting it to meet today’s challenges.

Building upon the strong Christian foundation established by his parents, Walter recognized the importance of creating solutions that empower communities for the long term.

This renewed vision led to the development of initiatives focused on education, agriculture, food security, and community development – helping individuals gain the knowledge, resources, and opportunities needed to become increasingly self-reliant.

Today, the organization is working toward an ambitious Vision 2027: creating a mission that is increasingly self-reliant through education, sustainable farming, and income-generating agricultural projects that support both the ministry and the surrounding communities.

Serving Communities Through Faith and Practical Action

Our programs are designed to address both immediate needs and long-term opportunities. By combining Christian ministry with practical community development, we strive to create meaningful and sustainable impact throughout Liberia.

Christian Education

Supporting students through quality education that equips future generations with knowledge, character, and hope.

Developing agricultural initiatives that improve food security, create employment opportunities, and strengthen local economies.

Community & Ministry

Serving local communities through church ministry, discipleship, practical assistance, and community partnerships.

Vision 2027: Self-Reliance Through Sustainable Development

Our goal is to become increasingly self-sustaining by December 2027.

By expanding education, developing agricultural enterprises, and creating employment opportunities, we are building a model that generates the resources needed to support our mission while strengthening the communities we serve.

Rather than relying solely on donations, we are investing in sustainable solutions that improve food security, create livelihoods, and equip future generations with the knowledge and skills to thrive.

Guided by faith, responsible stewardship, and long-term planning, we are committed to building a stronger future for Liberia that will endure for generations to come.
